Welcome to Volcano Spirit Cacao

Long before chocolate, there was cacao.

Ceremonial cacao is a traditional plant ally used for centuries by the Mayan peoples to open the heart and nourish body and soul.

Our mission is to share this wisdom with you, wherever you are, while honoring the traditions and the families behind the cacao.

The Hidden Cost of Cheap Chocolate

Big brands have lost the plot.

We are on a mission to share the heart-opening tradition of ceremonial cacao in a world where it's more needed than ever, and we're so glad you're part of it.

After spending many years in Guatemala, where cacao has been grown in its traditional form for more than 4,000 years by small-scale family farmers, we believe cacao as we know it in the Western world has drifted far from its original form. With big chocolate brands replacing cacao with lab-grown substitutes, sugar, and artificial flavors, the real tradition of this ancient practice is getting lost.

At the same time, many cacao farmers receive only a small fraction of the final value of the products sold around the world. The people who do the work of cultivating, harvesting, fermenting, and drying the cacao, while keeping the wisdom and tradition alive, are often the ones who benefit the least from its success.

That's why Volcano Spirit Cacao was born, to bring cacao back to its roots.
